Standing on one leg means that this leg works overtime to keep the body balanced and upright, so those muscles are worked like never before.

Re: Pay to Play VC events

And you didn't bite? ha!

Re: Speeding up rarely used Leopard laptop

The very first Crane Stand was crafted of powder-coated steel with the help of aeronautical engineer and designer Brandon Wilke. The mobile laptop stand was first released at Decibel Festival (An International Electronic Music Festival) in 2008 in Seattle and received an overwhelmingly positive response from the music community. Soon thereafter, hands were shook securing a deal with a large-scale distributor, and it wasn’t long until the Crane Stand was in full scale production.

Re: Pros and Cons of MongoDB

@Paul Diez We use MySQL for normalized data. MySQL works great for tables with fewer than 5M records or so and even with 10M+ records, it's only a problem when there are lots of updates on unique/foreign key constrained columns.

Re: Speeding up rarely used Leopard laptop

locate will only run monthly when you haven’t opened it in a long time. If you don’t care about locate

Re: Speeding up rarely used Leopard laptop

The Crane stand was designed with the highest quality standards in mind. But does seem to have some other nice IDE's that work well, or at least seemed to.

I was thinking of the development server for starts, as long as it can do what it takes.

But I've got a learning curve ahead of me. Thanks again.

Re: Install Eclipse Galileo for Django and Pinax – Part 2

I have no experience with PortablePython but from what I see, it should be totally doable independently of Eclipse. Pinax already uses VirtualEnv so everything is in one spot as far as the system is concerned.

The only issue would be the server itself. The development server might be sufficient (just ./manage.py runserver) but more likely, you'd want a more robust server. That server should probably be pure Python since you're looking for portability (over performance presumably). Maybe bundle it with one of these:

http://docs.python.org/libr...
http://twistedmatrix.com/tr...

Re: Install Eclipse Galileo for Django and Pinax – Part 2

I was wondering how difficult it would be to set Pinax up as part of PortablePython,

:)

Re: Cassandra learnings

Useful list.
